Welcome

This knowledge base documents every custom vehicle project under the Road Relics umbrella — Trader (truck) series and Cruiser (overland) series. Each project has:

  • A canonical Data Sheet (quick specs & links)
  • An Overview with goals & milestones
  • A Bill of Materials (BOM) that references canonical parts in /parts/catalog
  • Technical manuals (installation, wiring, calibration, troubleshooting)
  • Organized media: photos, diagrams, CAD

Everything is Markdown-first so GitHub keeps full history and ChatGPT can read and help edit or generate content.

How this wiki is structured (short)

  • Per-build pages live under /builds/<build-slug>/
  • _datasheet.md — canonical machine-readable summary (and human table)
  • 00-overview.md — goals & milestones
  • 01-manual/ — procedures (installation, teardown, service)
  • 02-parts/BOM.md — references to part_ids in /parts/catalog
  • 04-wiring/ — harness documentation (Infinitybox / sPOD pages)
  • 03-media/ — photos/diagrams/CAD
  • Parts live under /parts/catalog/<category>/<slug>/index.md and include YAML + a human table at the top.
  • Vendors under /parts/vendors/<vendor-slug>/index.md.
  • Templates under /templates/ (register in Admin → Templates).

Naming & ID conventions (please follow)

  • Build slugs — series-number-year-cab-bed-make
  • Example: trader-03-1979-extended-cab-shortbed-f250
  • Part IDs — category/slug (kebab-case)
  • Example: powertrain/godzilla-7-3l, transmission/6r140, electrical/infinitybox-system
  • Template files — keep under builds/_TEMPLATE/ and name _datasheet.md, 00-overview.md, 02-parts/BOM.md
  • Use editor: markdown in front-matter for all pages.

Templates (where to create pages from)

  • Datasheet Template: /templates/datasheet-template.md
  • Overview Template: /templates/overview-template.md

  • BOM Template: /templates/parts-bom-template.md (MD table or CSV header)

Parts catalog & conventions

Parts are canonical, single-source, and referenced by part_id in BOMs. Each part page should include:

  1. YAML front-matter (as shown on this site)
  2. A human table in the body repeating those key fields
  3. Installation notes, compatibility, vendors, media links

High-priority parts to ensure exist:
- powertrain/godzilla-7-3l — Ford 7.3L Godzilla (fill numeric specs)
- transmission/6r140 — Ford 6R140 (ratios, torque rating)
- drivetrain/transfercase-hc3z-7a195-c — BorgWarner 44-17 / HC3Z-7A195-C details
- electrical/infinitybox-system — Infinitybox PDM (Traders)
- electrical/spod-genx — sPOD Gen X (Cruisers)
- Hardware: hardware/bolt-m10x1.5-30 etc.

Wiring & electronics notes (summary)

  • Trader series: Infinitybox PDM + harness kits. Document CAN IDs, power feed, and IO channel mapping. Store diagrams in /03-media/diagrams/.
  • Cruiser series: sPOD Gen X PDM used for Cruisers — keep sPOD pages for those builds.
  • Transfer case (HC3Z): usually BorgWarner Model 44-17; verify electrical interface (CAN vs solenoid) before integration.
  • Engine/transmission: Godzilla 7.3L with 6R140 — record flexplate, torque converter, and ECU/TCM integration notes.

GitHub & ChatGPT integration (how to get the assistant to help)

  • GitHub: keep this repo as the canonical source. Use a branch + PR workflow for changes.
  • ChatGPT connector: once the GitHub connector is authorized and online (repo selected), ChatGPT can:
  • Read and summarize pages
  • Generate a new datasheet or BOM markdown
  • Propose file changes and produce a patch or PR (if connector write-access granted)
  • Quick ChatGPT prompts (examples you can save):
  • Using our repo, create a new build folder from _TEMPLATE for "trader-06..." and prefill the datasheet.
  • List all builds missing the "Electrical / PDM" field in their datasheet.
  • Compare Trader 02 and Trader 03 suspension geometry and summarize differences.

Logo & images

  • Upload an SVG logo (square ratio) as the site logo (I provided an SVG earlier). The wiki logo expects an image square and ≥ 34×34.
  • Preferred file names: site-logo.svg and store it under /03-media/branding/ or set via Wiki.js Appearance.

How to create a new build (step-by-step)

  1. Copy builds/_TEMPLATE to builds/<new-slug>/
  2. Edit _datasheet.md (fill front-matter table and body table)
  3. Fill 00-overview.md, create 02-parts/BOM.md (reference part_ids)
  4. Add wiring pages under 04-wiring/, place diagrams in 03-media/diagrams/
  5. Save → Wiki.js commits to GitHub (if git storage enabled)
  6. Open PR if you prefer review before merging

Contributors & contact

  • Primary editors: You and your brother — add to the Wiki.js Admin → Users and create an Owners group.
  • For help with the connector, templates, or PRs — ask me here and I’ll either prepare the files or the PR.
