Installation Planning

Phase 1: Engine Bay Power Distribution

  1. Install dual battery system with Redarc charger
  2. Complete "Big 3" electrical upgrade
  3. Mount Engine Bay SPOD 1 & 2
  4. Run main power feeds from batteries
  5. Install input breakers

Phase 2: Interior Power Distribution

  1. Mount Interior SPOD (behind 2nd row)
  2. Mount Interior Fuse Block (console or 2nd row)
  3. Install MSD relay block
  4. Run power feeds from battery/switched power
  5. Create wire management at "behind 2nd row" junction

Phase 3: Circuit Installation

  1. Install roof penetrations (lights, antennas, power)
  2. Run door-mounted courtesy lights
  3. Install seat heater circuits
  4. Complete console power circuits (inverter, USB, etc.)
  5. Install communication equipment (ham radios)

Phase 4: Testing & Documentation

  1. Test each circuit individually
  2. Label all circuits clearly
  3. Create as-built wiring diagram
  4. Document any deviations from plan

Safety Notes

Critical Safety Requirements

  1. Proper Fusing: Every circuit must have appropriate fuse/breaker protection
  2. Wire Gauge: Use appropriate wire gauge for amperage and length
  3. Connections: All connections must be soldered or properly crimped
  4. Heat Shrink: Protect all connections with adhesive-lined heat shrink
  5. Grounding: Establish solid ground points (not vehicle body for high-current)
  6. Labeling: Label every wire at both ends

Fire Prevention

  • Never exceed 80% of fuse/breaker rating for continuous loads
  • Use proper gauge wire (see chart below)
  • Ensure all high-current wires avoid heat sources
  • Secure all wiring away from moving parts
  • Use grommets for all firewall penetrations
