Infinitybox Technical Questions — FINAL¶

Email Body (copy below the line)¶
Good morning Jay,
Thanks again for the help so far. While I'm getting the parts and planning the wiring, I have a series of technical questions and would appreciate your recommendations, wiring diagrams, or any reference examples you can point me to.
Quick follow-up on Order #8766: Could you confirm the shipping status of the remaining items — specifically the additional POWERCELL NGX, inCODE NGX System Programmer, and inLINK NGX Wireless Interface Kit?
Steering column: I'm planning to use the OEM 1996 F-250 tilt column (non-airbag). Let me know if you need more details for the turn signal harness connection.
1) Driver front door — inputs & mirror outputs¶
The driver front door on the 1996 Crew Cab F-250 has the following controls:
- Window switches for 4 windows (up/down each)
- Lock and Unlock switches
- Window lock (child lock) switch
- Mirror controls: L/R selector + Up / Down / Left / Right (joystick)
Questions: - Do I need a second inMOTION driver-side controller to handle all of those inputs to run on the CAN network? Do you have an input-only device? Or do I run some input wires directly from the door to the MASTERCELL? - For mirror motor control (requires reversing polarity), is this something that the system can handle?
2) Two-way remotes, proximity unlock & push-button start¶
- Are there any native Infinitybox two-way remote or proximity solutions planned or available (similar in capability to Compustar / Viper two-way remotes) that integrate directly with NGX?
- Is proximity door unlock and push-button start supported natively or via a recommended integration?
- I know Infinitybox has worked with Digital Guard Dawg — is there a roadmap for native two-way/proximity support or an official/validated integration path you recommend?
3) Controlling 3rd-party modules (transfer case, seats, etc.)¶
Two modules I'm using: - Swap The Universe Ford electronic shift transfer-case controller - LeatherSeats seat heater/cooler module (planned)
Questions: - Can these (or similar standalone modules) be controlled by Infinitybox over CAN? If yes, what CAN message format, addressing, or interface requirements would you need from the module manufacturer? - If CAN control isn't practical, what is the preferred wiring/interface approach — wiring the controllers' inputs to POWERCELL outputs, using a small relay/interface board, or something else? - Do you have any reference projects or notes where Infinitybox controls external controllers like transfer-case modules or seat controllers?
4) Vintage Air + inVIRONMENT harness & physical controls¶
I'm using a Vintage Air system and I'd like to use the inVIRONMENT harness and still retain the Vintage Air physical controls in the vehicle at the same time.
- Is it possible to have the inVIRONMENT harness and the physical Vintage Air controls connected simultaneously (so I can use either/or)?
- If yes, any guidance on wiring, signal conflicts, or recommended wiring diagrams to make both coexist cleanly?
5) Vehicle router / cellular remote control¶
- Is there a recommended way to connect an in-vehicle router (with a cellular connection) to the Infinitybox system so I can control functions remotely?
- If possible, what hardware or architecture do you recommend (for example: CAN-to-Ethernet gateway, local VPN, dedicated LTE gateway, or something built into an Infinitybox product)?
- Any recommended security practices (authentication, firewall, VPN, etc.) or cautions about exposing control functions remotely?
If it helps, I can share photos of the driver-door harness, window/mirror motors, and the Vintage Air control harness, or jump on a quick Teams/phone call to walk through the wiring. Also — your recent YouTube shorts have been super helpful for answering a number of small questions, thanks for putting those out.
Appreciate any wiring diagrams, part recommendations, or reference projects you can share.
Best regards, Kyle Sims Brothers Overland kyle_elec@brothersoverland.com
Internal Notes (for reference, not part of email)¶
Key Context¶
- Order #8766: Received IPM1 kit, inVERT Mini, 4x inMOTION. Waiting on extra POWERCELL, inCODE, inLINK.
- Steering column: OEM 1996 F-250 tilt, non-airbag
- Powertrain: Godzilla 7.3L + 6R140 + Electric Shift TC (all STU controlled)
Expected Answers¶
Q1 - Driver door: Likely need discrete wires from some switches to MASTERCELL, or a second inMOTION. Mirror control may need H-bridge/relay board.
Q3 - Third-party modules: Most likely answer is POWERCELL outputs wired to controller switch inputs. CAN control would require STU to publish their protocol.
Q4 - Vintage Air: Should work with proper isolation — VA controls and inVIRONMENT probably shouldn't both command the same output simultaneously.
Follow-up Actions¶
- If CAN control possible: Request CAN DBC or message spec from STU
- If proximity requires Digital Guard Dawg: Get integration wiring diagram
- Confirm inLINK capabilities for remote access (may answer Q5)
